I have 4 vehicals which all run just fine. However, each of them need paint so I am preparing to tackle this project. As such, I need the best for less. This gun has been highly rated by professional painters. If they who utilize the high end guns are impressed by this gun, I am all in. Not used it yet but the perceived quality is very nice. The machine ing and polishing is high quality.

I got it out of the box and on my first spray had a massive amount of contamination. Tore apart the gun for a clean and found built up metal shavings and what appeared to be dried clear coat on the inside. Unfortunately it ruined the first paint job and needed fully resanded and painted.

I have been painting off and on for over 20 years. As a main profession for about 7 years Used a lot of different spray guns. Narrowed down to my main Sata 500 which costed me over $500 about 20 years ago! Still use it to this day. Nothing wrong with it but I wanted another dedicated base or clear gun just because. I also heard so many good things about Iwata over the years but I was happy with my Sata and never had the opportunity to try an Iwata, never really had a reason to change either. I don’t do it professionally or for main income anymore but I still love to paint as a hobby and on the side here and there / side extra income when I can make the time. Falling back in love with the passion at one point started to dislike as it takes a toll on you for various reasons. I figured I wanted to try an Iwata, I’d either use it as a base or clear gun if it was better or as good as my Sata either way. if not it would be a backup , my old backup I never really needed to use , I got a new needle/tip set and basically turned that into my primer gun. So nothing to lose, just an addition at worst case scenario. Anyway! This Iwata Kiwami turned out to be a gem! Love this thing! I can lay down clear better than I ever could with my Sata and base coats / tri coats what have you, I basically can lay it down / blend etc the same. It almost seems to flow / atomize even better but it could be my imagination / placebo effect new gun etc , I had no issues with my Sata with any metallic, pearls, mica etc Sata is a dabrasric fun as well but clear wise I absolutely lay it down better. I want to use it primarily for base and clear! But I will use it as my mid coat/ clear / finishing gun , Sata will stay my sealer/ base gun. Just to keep the Iwata as clean as possible for that sweet finishing touch. Bottom line , fabulous spray gun that performs way beyond its price point. Absolutely enjoy it and wish I got one sooner! it absolutely will be the last spray gun I’ll every buy. Very high quality and the way I take care of my spray guns & being I’m not using it every single day anymore. Perhaps one or two spot jobs per month and maybe 2-3 complete refinishes annually , I have no doubt will last forever for me. did I mention I love this freakin spray gun?? The fact that it is sub $200 boggles My mind. Literally less than half the price of my 20 year old gun. I can’t imagine how any gun could be a a ton better and nowdays there are some pretty expensive ones! Pic is just the first thing I quickly did just for fun in the backyard! I didn’t really think to take some other pics of bigger jobs I should have! Just was excited to try it , at home one Sunday morning and snapped that pic A Pearl Tri-coat in a breezy humid dusty just for fun and for the sake of playing with it. Sat out for a couple of hours, I brought it inside because it was about to rain. …. anyway it doesn’t do it any justice but …. bottom line , it is 100% way beyond in quality and performance of its price point. That’s a fact. Read full review

I have been in the collision repair business for 40 years. This is one of the best guns I have ever used, at any price. I find it sprays and blends basecoats very well and lays clear down well too. Overall I am very pleased with the quality and performance of this gun.
