About this product

Product Information

With hard times in the family and hard knocks on the job, it's their hard rock band at night that keeps Joe (Michael J. Fox) and his sister, Patti (played by real-life rock star Joan Jett), alive. In LIGHT OF DAY, Joe and Patti are Ohio siblings who are part of a local rock band, the Barbusters. At home they are part of a dysfunctional family, the Rasnicks. Particularly troubled is Patti's antagonistic relationship with her Bible-toting mother, Jeanette (Gena Rowlands in a remarkable performance), who is angered and ashamed that Patti is an unwed single mother who refuses to reveal the identity of her son's father. When their mother falls ill, Patti and Joe's lives are put into a tailspin, and they must confront the conflicts that will prevent them from living their lives and their dreams. Rowlands shines in her portrayal of the complex, stricken, repressed Jeanette in this family-and-showbiz drama.

  • Light of Day VHS movie-Joan Jett-Micheal J. Fox

A good rock & roll story - An 80's Cleveland, Ohio small-time bar band led by singer Joan Jett & her brother, Micheal J. Fox try to move up in the music world. Only the sister has several nasty habits incuding stealing things & hating their mom (who's sadly dying of cancer) while trying to raise a small child without a father.Gena Rowlands is very good as the pious Christian mom at odds against the rebelious, disrespectful anti-religious daughter. The backdrop of family turmoil can and is an overwhelming theme of this story, but Joan Jett finally comes in to visit her mom near the end (the end of her mom & the movie) which reconciles Joan Jett as finally coming around to cry on mom's shoulder. The end of the movie has more of the 80's rock song"Light of Day" which I enjoyed the music as ...

  • Awesome movie! A real find!!

This movie is a great find! It seems like it didn't get much publicity as most people I've talked to didn't even know it existed. Overall though, the movie is very good and both Michael J. Fox and Joan Jett do superb performances! :) ~Susan Carroll

  • Light of Day, Joan Jett

Joan Jett is great, I have always liked her music, gritty , Movie is not too shabby either, well worth watching, great story about breaking into the music business. Michael j, Fox plays a good part as well. Love it.
