I'm a total horror fanatic, over the past year I've been getting into the Japanese horror scene and I can't believe I didn't start sooner. I saw this picture in my book on old horror films, this was pictured in the Japanese film section and I just HAD to watch it!! Took forever to find and cost me a pretty penny, but it's totally worth it. This film was directed by none other than Ishiro Honda, who also directed the infamous Godzilla! AND...Haruo Nakajima, the man who played Godzilla, is also Gezora (the cuttlefish) and Kamoebas (the snapping turtle). The monsters in are so awesome! Amazing costumes and special effects, comical monster on monster fighting, and the English dubbing...hilarious! If you're new to the Japanese monster genre then I would definitely worth the money!! I have both the DVD and video tape, if you happen to purchase the tape please keep in mind that it was recorded in EP Mode (as most Japanese films) so it'll track at first then clear up.Read full review

One of the last of the great Kaiju films by director Honda! One of the first i saw as a child of six in the theaters that wasn't Godzilla and made in the sixties, Ifukebe's music brings a feeling of dread and downplays the usual bombastic sound we're used to hearing in the Godzilla films, The visual efx are worthy of the late Eiji Tsuburaya! Can't rave enough over it, waited a looooonng time to get this, though i DO prefer the title used in the U.S. Yog, Monster from Space! Just sounds more fearsome! Grab it! You won't regret it!

The storyline is straight up science fiction mixed in which some kaiju monsters which grow to proportional size because of an extraterrestrial alien life form bent on its conquest of the Earth by hijacking a space ship that was sent to Jupitar for exploration. Straight up I liked the storyline because I am a science fiction buff and kaiju fan of the genre. Ishiro Honda much like Latitude Zero, Atragon, the Mysterians and Mantago shows he is not only the Father of Godzilla but to Japanese Science Fiction as well.

This is one of the most entertaining of the Toho non-Godzilla kaiju movies, featuring a lot of familiar faces like Kenji Sahara and Akira Kubo! The plot is interesting, the performances are all excellent, and the creature battles are exciting and well executed. Impossible to find this film streaming on any platform because of licensing issues, so buying it is your only option sadly. Still, it’s well worth the price if you love good old fashioned Toho monster movies!
