    TIVO Elite XL4

    I am new to the TIVO family - but after leaving AT&T's Uverse and joining CHARTER Spectrum, I thought I was going to literally lose my mind trying to 'enjoy' their HORRID DVR. It is difficult, if not impossible, to go from 4 tuners down to 2. With Charter's box you can only record 2 shows and have to watch one of them! So, after the first three days my husband caught me on AT&T's website looking for deals to go back. He was upset and told me to find another solution... that is how I came across TIVO! Upon lengthy investigation I knew that I wanted 4 tuners minimum and had to get lifetime service as we did not need another bill to pay. The Elite/XL4 seemed perfect! I am very happy with the unit. I had to get a cable card and tuning adapter from Charter, but once that was done I was in TIVO ...

    This is all the Tivo that I will need for the time being. It is a Series 4, and contains many more features that I will need for a long time.

    I purchased this Series 4 Premier instead of the Series 5 or Series 6 because it is much more economical than buying one of the more recent units. They are available with lifetime subscription already purchased by the previous owner. It has many features including streaming and storing recorded programs. It will keep me satisfied for a long time!

    It beats paying a box rental to spectrum every month for life.

    I had to add a new hard drive. The tivo design is not user friendly so I had to pay to have the drive formatted. It now works very well. Due to the lifetime service transfer I do not have to pay a monthly fee to tivo.

    Highly Recommend

    Changed cable providers and I didn't like the DVR they provided. Purchased this TiVo to replace it and it's a huge improvement. Based on the monthly rental fees for the box provided by the cable provider, I'll break even in about 18 months. I needed assistance with the setup and TiVo support was very helpful.
