This is a lovely book, whose illustrations elevate the Sleeping Beauty story to almost a god-and-goddess-like status. Paintings are lush, colorful, and dark in contrast to Princess Aurora's portrait. I'm giving this book a "good" rating, as the font is very faint and difficult to read. Overall the authors do a spectacular job and I wish there were more paintings, especially of the fairies. The point comes through very clearly that the princess is the life of the kingdom... But for the innocence of the princess, who is held in a 100-year limbo, so too is the livelihood of all those nearby. So we are to learn how innocence can become the lifeblood of a community. When the evil spell of 100 years is lifted by the kiss of the prince (who looks like young Conan Obrien), there's a regaining of heart for all those desiring to live happily ever after.Read full review
