About this product

Product Information

NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE The harrowing, true account from the brave men on the ground who fought back during the Battle of Benghazi. 13 HOURS presents, for the first time ever, the true account of the events of September 11, 2012, when terrorists attacked the US State Department Special Mission Compound and a nearby CIA station called the Annex in Benghazi, Libya. A team of six American security operators fought to repel the attackers and protect the Americans stationed there. Those men went beyond the call of duty, performing extraordinary acts of courage and heroism, to avert tragedy on a much larger scale. This is their personal account, never before told, of what happened during the thirteen hours of that now-infamous attack. 13 HOURS sets the record straight on what happened during a night that has been shrouded in mystery and controversy. Written by New York Times bestselling author Mitchell Zuckoff, this riveting book takes readers into the action-packed story of heroes who laid their lives on the line for one another, for their countrymen, and for their country. 13 HOURS is a stunning, eye-opening, and intense book--but most importantly, it is the truth. The story of what happened to these men--and what they accomplished--is unforgettable.

    an important read

Very well-written by the people who were there, 13 Hours is the factual account of the battle. subsequent fall of the American presence in Libya, and most importantly, the risk and loss of Americans lives. It is not politically biased, it just tells the truth about that night. Politics aside, it is a compelling read - I could not put it down. This book caused me to appreciate what our men and women of the Armed Forces do on behalf of others. They really do give their lives, at the expense of their families, for others. Find a veteran, express appreciation to them, and love on. They deserve it!.

    difficult

at times the book was difficult to follow in regard to the action, who was where doing what. if i hadn't seen the movie, i would have been lost. that doesn't diminish the extraordinary bravery and heroism of these men. my recommendation would be-see the movie first.

  • Compelling Story of what Really Happened, Discredited by Some for Political Reasons.

Exciting, well paced and balanced account as told by the security operators who "were there" and fought the battle. The book includes maps and photos to make a sometimes complicated story easier for the reader to understand. I STRONGLY recommend that anyone who plans on seeing the movie read the book first. The book goes into much greater detail on a number of factors that the movie can only lightly touch on [due to time constraints]. Example: There is a heavyset/well dressed local man in the commotion with a nickel-plated AK-47. The contractors wonder is he friend or foe? Will he run if things get "hot"? In the movie he is shown briefly in the distance and most viewers may not even notice him, but readers of the book will have much greater insight. Overall it is an exciting book ...

  • Title perfectly conveys the compelling, true story told in the pages of this book.

Very good hard cover, first edition copy with dust jacket, of a controversial event that is still making headlines several years after it really happened. Share the intense, frustrating events first hand in this very well written book that was made into a major motion picture.

  • Very Informative

This is an excellent book that tells the story much better than the movie. It is not a bit fiction. The U.S. State Department let these guys down big time !
