Great Family Movie!!
This is my husband's FAVORITE movie and we watch it a lot. I think this is a great movie that the entire family can watch. I am a big fan of Densel Washington's movies anyway, because there is never a lot of cursing. The movie is a great lesson on life because it covers some of what has been going on for centuries now, racism. But it shows how if we work together, there is nothing that we cannot accomplish as a human race not as black or white but just as loving and caring people. This movie sends strong message!
The fact this movie was based on a true story appealed to me. This was a story based on a high school football team struggling with racial prejudice when a black coach (Denzel Washington's character) joins the coaching staff of a previously all-white school at the beginning of integration in the south. It was a wonderful characterization of how learning and understanding of your fellow human being can change your attitude and enrich your life. I bought this movie as a gift to my 10-year-old grandson hoping he would take from it a very valuable lesson.The fact this movie was based on a true story appealed to me. This was a story based on a high school football team struggling with racial prejudice when a black coach (Denzel Washington's character) joins the coaching staff of a previously all-white school at the beginning of integration in the south. It was a wonderful characterization of how learning and understanding of your fellow human being can change your attitude and enrich your life.
