    An excellent butane soldering iron.

    Technically, I don't own a /real/ Portasol PP1-K, as I have the plastic welder version and have purchased the tip setup for soldering instead. However, it's effectively the same tool in a slightly different shade of plastic. The PP1 heats up quickly, and provides reliable temperature control. While it's not quite as light-weight and easy to pack as the Iso-Tip 50, the Portasol ProPeizo 75 is a dramatically better product in overall quality while still being fairly similar in size and weight.

    My old friend is back

    For years I used this soldering iron on my job as an automotive technician. After about 10 years of hard use, it finally quit working. I have tried to replace it with cheaper versions by other manufacturers. What was I thinking. After receiving the kit last week, I put it to use on a wiring repair on my Ford Escape. It worked beautifully, It is easy to change the soldering tips, and fantastic getting into tight places. It always lights on the first click and the heats up very quickly. It was like having an old friend back with me.
