About this product

Product Information

This text is designed for a three-semester or four-quarter calculus course (math, engineering, and science majors). Calculus hasn't changed, but your students have. Today's students have been raised on immediacy and the desire for relevance, and they come to calculus with varied mathematical backgrounds. Thomas' Calculus, Twelfth Edition , helps your students successfully generalize and apply the key ideas of calculus through clear and precise explanations, clean design, thoughtfully chosen examples, and superior exercise sets. Thomas offers the right mix of basic, conceptual, and challenging exercises, along with meaningful applications. This significant revision features more examples, more mid-level exercises, more figures, and improved conceptual flow. This is the complete text, which contains Chapters 1-16. Separate versions are available, covering just Single Variable topics (contains Chapters 1-11 and Multivariable topics (contains Chapters 11-16). MyMathLab access is not included with this ISBN.

  • Great classic that matched my expectations.

I felt being behind with my integration skills at university and so I thought I'd reinforce my studies with this classic. It proved to be very effective as concepts I had troubles with prior became manageable. Book is well set out, filled with worked examples and reasoning to help the reader with understanding of the concepts. One thing i regret not being included in the text are the last two chapters that refer the reader to a different source, these being: the second/higher order ODE. Overall, I was very pleased and can safely say that this well known classic lived up to my expectations.

  • A Sound Calculus Book at a Fair Price

I bought this product for a college course. It is very useful as it covers the content of all of the first three "calculuses" in one volume. The book is well-written and very understandable. Compared to other calculus books, it may not be quite as mathematically rigorous in many aspects, but for an engineering or another career it is good.

  • wrong picture... but it was the same content.

it was not the book shown in the picture.... but it has the same material, at first i was spektical, but then relife to findout it was the same book

  • Good book some it can be used to get answers

  • Great cheap textbook!

This is a great alternative to the insanely expensive hardcover text books out there selling for $200+. This is a paperback version of the hardcover edition. So far the examples and review questions have matched up perfectly. I have read several descriptions stating that problems may vary but this one has not so far! This was exactly what I needed!
