  • one of the BEST Sci-Fi FPS/RPG ever

I can clearly say this is one of most entertaining FPS/RPG I've played so far. The Goods -Story. It's SPECIALLY great if you played System Shock 1. -Great Atmosphere. You're (almost always) alone in the spaceship and fights through terrifying monsters roaming around. -Sounds. PDA voicelogs are one of the best works done in this game. -RPG Elements. You gain strength through the story and exploration. -Replayability. connects with the RPG elements. -Challeinging Difficulty. Starts out hard(lacking supplies and stats) but things get better, specially after Deck 4 or so. The Bads -Graphics. Looks too old for current standard, But there's replacements for models and textures to make things better. -Difficulty. I find it well-balanced but SS2 could be too hard for casual players. -Engine ...

  • System Shock 2

This is my 2nd favorite game of all time, with the first being the sleeper hit, System Shock. If you have never heard of System Shock, here is a crash course to bring you up to speed. System Shock was a DOS/Windows game (Windows95) that took the 1st person shooter (FPS) genre, and gave it elements that drew you into it, instead of running and gunning. The standard FPS game typically had a level, you beat it, go to next level. In System Shock, you sort of don't have levels. You have various areas that require this and that before you can access it. But, once you acheive access to a new area, you are not simply done with the previous area. System Shock environments are GIGANTIC, and if you just run and gun, your screwed. Anyway........... There are tons of reviews online about ...

  • System Shock2

This game, man, this game. I bought it because it is required playing if you want to appreciate the FPS/RPG genre. It is also one of the most immersive and scariest games you'll ever get to play. All the games we like have elements of what SS2 had, but SS2 did it right. Maybe it's all the techno, or the fact that you are alway starving for resources, or that no matter how well you've updated your rig, you can still get owned by something around the corner. If you can get a hold of this game, and you like a good story and gripping gameplay, go get this game. It won't be around forever. Good games should not be scarce. They should be like literature. People should be forced to play this game and tell the class about it. For those of you who don't know, the other reason to play this game is ...

  • Haunting, Deep Abandonment in Dark Space RPG...A Masterpiece

System Shock 2 falls just short of its predecessor, the original, although the graphics update and equally intricate gameplay bring it quite close to the "all-time" most important thus far in the history of PC gaming. "Shock 2" once again excels in the soundscapes of fear, the screeching dark metal and cold bulkheads of a drifting corvette far from planetary contact...and the horrific level of play above the "normal" difficulty setting will challenge even the most adept of gamer. A true first person, a 75% RPG injection, and a setting of sci-fi and "no hope" for mankind action are the roots that the sequel transfers successfully from the original. The depth true lovers would want from Trioptimum corporate network and "side quests" are limited, but the pace of this game, the flawless ...
