Guitar virtuoso instrumental album full of great memorable tunes worth cranking up!

Excellent instrumental metal sounds from the late 80s, great to work by, all the tunes are memorable. No vocals on this one, this was the guitar virtuoso's follow up to his first album, Edge of Insanity. Both are great, but I like this one a lot better, great production, excellent musicianship, I believe it's his best album, after this one, his stuff became a bit less kick-a$$, memorable and kind of jazzy. If you like hard rock, heavy metal, melodic and hair metal, you should get this immediately!

  • Great for a neoclassical instrumental guitar album.

This album is pretty good. There's not much else to be said. Tears of Sahara is a classic. Autumn lords is kinda weird at first, but really good. Key to the City is really good, as is The King's Cup... All songs are either of good or great quality . The Vision is pretty damn cool as well. There's an instrumental piano track, inspired by Vivaldi (I think), which also shows off MacAlpine's ability to play the piano. All in all: A great buy for any neoclassical guitarist. I'm not incredibly into neoclassical myself, but I thoroughly enjoyed this album. If you want a great neoclassical instrumental guitar album (with some added George Lynch bluesy/80's hair metal flavour on two of the songs), then buy this!:)

  • Best.Guitar.Ever.

This is the definitive electric guitar album produced at the pinnacle of the virtuoso phase in the late 1980's. Not only can Tony play faster and more fluidly than others, his phrasing is lyrical, majestic, and beautiful. George Lynch from Dokken guests on two songs, and Jeff Watson (tap-master from Night Ranger) appears on one track. Oh, and Tony plays virtuoso level on the keyboards as well, dueling tracks with the guitar on many songs. Unlike most other GIT grads, Tony has a unique voice with his instrument, avoids cliches, and explores many other scales and modalities than your average Yngwie clone. Wolf Marshall (from Guitar For the Practicing Musician Magazine) did a great article on Tony and transcribed a small part of the first track, "Autumn Lords" right after ...
