About this product

Product Information

Evan Trehorn - played by Ashton Kutcher - is a college student who has suffered from blackouts and memory loss since he was a child. He is tormented by repressed childhood memories and he visualises his best friend and first love, Kayleigh - played by Amy Smart - as a child, whose father is a child molester and whose brother has a sadistic streak. When Evan discovers that he can travel back in time he realises that he can change things as well. Also he soon discovers that a minor change can have a calamitous effect further along the chain and that playing God has its fair share of problems. The twists and loops of the plot are woven into the script by J. Mackye Gruber and Eric Bress who also directed this time-travel thriller.

Additional Information
Playing God has its consequences, which is the theme of the tricky time-travel shockfest THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT. J. Mackye Gruber and Eric Bress, who share writing and directing credits, make a splash with a gripping script that never fails to throw twists and loops into the plot. Both thematically and visually, the film is similar to the perfect commercial filmmaking in the team's script for FINAL DESTINATION II.<BR>Here, Evan Trehorn (Ashton Kutcher) is a college student who has suffered from blackouts and memory loss since he was a child. Tormented by deeply repressed childhood memories, he has visions of his best friend and first love Kayleigh (Amy Smart) as a child (Irene Gorovaia) whose Dad (Eric Stoltz) is a child molester, and whose brother Tommy has a serious sadistic streak. In search of greater clarity, Evan pores over his journals and is physically transported back in time where he is still a young boy (John P. Amedori) and has the ability to change what happened. But soon he realises that changing history has caused calamitous results elsewhere. A mesmerising thriller with a dark underlying mystery, THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT is delightfully chilling.

  • Amazing DVD

I saw the film on TV and I loved it so much. I decided I had to buy it, and I got it for an amazing price. The quality is excellent.

  • Would I go back and watch this film again if I could?

The plot; Ashton Kutcher suffers from blackouts and memory loss and it's all to do with a troubled childhood. He discovers that when re reading his old diaries he is somehow transported back in time and has the ability to change past events. But everytime he changes the past, the present gets amended with unpredictable results. Okay sounds good. But this movie is a bit of a parody because I didn't particularly enjoy watching it but I keep on meaning to put some time aside to watch it again and lots of other people seem to like it so it must have something. I'm not exactly sure what that is though as although starting off promising the story quickly dissapears up its own metaphorical time hole and becomes almost laughable. There's generally a bit of a wooden predictable performance from ...
