Product Information

The X-Files is a movie-style interactive game developed by HyperBole Studios, with an original story created by The X-Files creator Chris Carter and writer Frank Spotnitz. The moody musical score is by composer Mark Snow, the same as the television series. The game offers a live-action cinematic presentation, with Hollywood-quality film clips woven throughout a first-person plot-line.<br><br>This dark mystery-adventure places you in the role of Special Agent Craig Willmore, an FBI operative charged with the mission of finding missing agents Dana Scully and Fox Mulder. You run the investigation and will search all over Seattle and the Pacific Northwest for information and clues.<br><br>As the story progresses you will interact with X-Files characters like Skinner and the Cigarette Smoking Man. Series regulars David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, Mitch Pileggi, Steven Williams, Dean Haglund, Brenden Beiser, Tom Braidwood, and other regular cast members are all featured within the game. <br><br>Interaction is limited to pre-defined speech options; the game gives you a list of questions to ask each character depending on the situation. At times, you get your choice of emotional responses, from angry to humorous, depending on how you want to play the character. In essence, the game plays like a movie where you read from a script but get only one page at a time -- what's on the next page depends on your choice of dialogue.<br><br>You interact with the cinematic environment, investigating the docks, visiting the hotel where Mulder and Scully were last seen, collecting small bits of evidence, even partaking in the ubiquitous standards of X-Files shows: investigating abandoned warehouses and exchanging gunfire with mysterious bad guys.<br><br>When you're not interacting with the cinematic presentations, you work with a "personal data accessory" (PDA) to take notes, review clues and contact people who can help you with the investigation. Icons at the bottom of your screen represent equipment you need, such as night-vision goggles, your FBI badge, and other inventory items.<br><br>Because of the high level of cinematic presentation used in the game, The X-Files ships on seven CD-ROMs.

    They dont make games like the used.

    I wish there could be more games like this. Im a great fan of this type of games. I played this game once back in school when it was released. I finally tracked it down and had to buy. The game is very close to the actual series, the music, the camera angles. I am running the game on Windows 7. For anyone that is interested on playing this game on Window 7 and dont think it might be compatible, below are a few things that I needed to do to get it working, smoothly. First off all, before running the setup, change the compatibility on the setup file to windows 95 and Disable the visual style. I have also set it to run in 640 x 480 res. During install, trying to do a full install (3.7Gig) it came up with a warning that I dont have enough hard drive space, although I have about 100gigs ...

    Rich, Engaging Video Game Is Great For The X-Files Fans

    X-Files: The Game is a very fun, high-quality game which will really entertain fans of The X-Files. You play an FBI agent in Seattle recruited by AD Skinner to solve a case. There are many levels (and several CD-ROM discs) and great, rich graphics. You've got to solve conundrums and search for clues. You'll encounter Mulder and Scully and other familiar characters from the show (the game predates Doggett and company). The game is challenging and will make you want to play for hours to solve the case. The storyline is engaging, filled with danger and intriguing mystery. All fans of The X-Files will enjoy this game thoroughly.

    Brings back old fond memories of a show that will never be equaled in SiFi.

    If you're a diehard X-Files fan than you need this in your collection. Although there is another game they released a few years later, this PC title allows you to become an agent and work on an X-File yourself. Help track down conspiracy to cover up the existence of E.T. and rescue agents Mulder and Scully. Fantastic game and truly unique to its time.

    description said it would play on Mac OS but not true... you must have old version of OS for this to work.. wasted my money on this purchase
