It's also possible the item (a delicately woven sweater) was damaged in transit. However, and to this seller's credit, they responded immediately when I sent a picture of the flaw and offered to resolve the issue immediately and fairly. I cannot say enough how much I appreciate an honest business person and would definitely buy from this person again.
