A great game for very young children

A great game for little kids who you want to introduce to the wonder of gaming in a positive and non-violent way. This was my 4-year-old daughter's second game that she finished completely (after Tonka Rescue Patrol). She took about 3 sessions to reach the end with almost no help from me, and was proud of the accomplishment when it was over. She immediately wanted to start over to see if she can do it faster and collect more stars. All of the goals are clearly communicated in the game, and between sessions she was looking forward to each next milestone and telling everyone about it. The game auto-saves progress to the memory card frequently, making it easier for us to pull the plug when game time is up. She knows she won't have to do much backtracking the next time she gets to play. All in ...

  • Perfect for little brother or little sister!

Older kids have a huge variety of video games available, but there are precious few that the little kids can actually play and enjoy. My youngest kid always wants to play on the Gamecube with big sister, but she can't really manage most games, besides forever wandering around on Level One of just about anything. This one is one she can play successfully, without being too easy or repetitive. It's very similar to watching Dora on TV. You have to play through several planets, each of which is basically one Dora episode. Each planet starts with a visit from Map, with that planet's three main stops. At the end of each planet, the player earns a key, and collecting all of the keys is the end goal of the game. It took my three year old a couple hours of playing to win the whole game - and ...

  • Decent game for age group

Basic graphics, but what would you expect from a game that is meant to be played by very young children? It is impossible to kill off Dora, and you are basically to stay on the path to pick up gems. Be a great way to get four year olds to build dexterity, and get involved in video games with a character they love.

  • Great product for young children!!!

This game was an excellent choice for both of my children. It is easy enough for my 5 year old to beat on his own in only a few hours, but keeps his attention for many more. My 2 year old loves to watch him play, and will eventually play on her own. There are several levels and he can use the controller to easily maneuver through them.

  • Dora Explorer Purple Planet Gamecube Game

This game is excellent for pre-school and kindergarten aged children. Going on an interactive adventure with Dora and her little buddy Boots gets the child playing involved. The game is set up like the TV show where "Map" guides you and asks the children where to go next. This game is great for memory, and logic building skills. If you have a little one between the ages 3-7 this is a great game for them to play. (Not a violent game, full of fun for the little ones.)
