    Marine Coastal Antenna A+

    I now understand the difference between the clones and the Diamond...

    16+ miles range in simplex using cheap portables (equipped with Motorola antennae each) to base on just 5W and a 30' foot mast... that was impressive, an SWR reading of 1:1.04 on the tuned VHF frequency. Has held up to 40 mph winds already... construction and finish are top notch, everything was carefully done, no rough solders, the matching section and the phasing coils are absolutely perfect, turns well done, there is no solder mixed up, no scuffed stuff due to poor manufacturing... Downsides are, antenna is pretty darn tall, although you can retract it a hair when you cut to length, but still fairly tall.
