Solid Canon quality. I have an older Canon Digital Elph camera that I used for many years and it is still working well; however, I felt it was time to upgrade to the new camera to take advantage of all the updated capabilities. What hasn't changed is the quality craftmanship, easy and intuitive menu system, pocketability, and great picture quality. Some of the cool new features include the high speed burst mode for still pictures, the ultra slo-mo movie mode, and of course, the full 1080p HD video recording. Upgrades include the improved image chip/processor, 12 mp resolution (vs 3 mp on my old one), larger LCD. The only reason I didn't give it a "5" on features is that Canon followed all the other manufacturers and now the Digital Elph series does not include an optical viewfinder, which is nice when trying to frame a shot when bright sunlight makes it hard to see the LCD. I am told that the improved LCDs make this not necessary, so I'll wait and see.Read full review
This is a basic point and shoot camera, with the usual canon scene detection e.g. face detect, sports, fireworks, etc. Bought a used one as a spare backup camera for travels, small, light cheap (a used one goes for around $40-50) Has a nice 3" screen that auto-rotates during playback according to viewing angles. Has true HD 1080p too. The reason why i chose this model among a sea of point and shoots was because of the HS name. This camera shoots nicely in low light capable of high ISO. But don't let the ISO go too high though, as it tends to 'wash' out the pixels, creating a 'watercolor effect'. The highest i go is ISO1600 and its sufficient enough for interior shots architecture, incandescent light in restaurants, street scenes. After researching the reviews of digital cameras in various price ranges, I chose to purchase this Canon model. It is an ideal camera that takes excellent pictures, at a reasonable price. I have a Canon digital slr so I did not want another large complex camera. This camera has all the features I need for a simple shoot that gives me the quality I want.
I heard this camera is pretty nice... cool look with high definition 1080p video quality. It has lots of other features too and is available on variety of colours. If anyone is interested in buying good camera at reasonable rate then I would recommend this as the best choice. I found out in a website mentioning this camera as best among all the canon cameras available on the market in point shoot category. They had considered the reasonability of price with the features available in the camera as reference to compare canon cameras.
Light weighted and many automatic functions. So sensitive that sometimes pictures taken in good light pictures are better without automatic flash.
