    Simply a great basic IRD.

    In my opinion, this is the best standard IRD DirecTV has ever had, this makes the newer D10-D12 units seem like total cheap crap, this thing does everything but record (it isn't a DVR) but it has what are called watch-wizard searches where you can put in several titles you want to watch and it will search for them, show you when they air, and highlight them in the on-screen guide for easy spotting. If I ever get DirecTV service back I will probably be using my spare one again unless I get all HD DVRs. I also have a D10-300 and hate it with a passion.

    Hughes receiver cannot be activated....

    Before purchasing receiver, I contacted Directv to verify if this receiver was not a leased receiver. While the receiver was a "purchased" one, once it's been disconnected; it can not be reconnected to Directv. Guess, I should have asked that! But who would have thought to ask it??

    Still in use today

    Don't pay any attention to the reviews saying these can't be used today. As long as they aren't leased receivers, Directv will gladly activate one for you. I just activated another one today Apr 4. 2017. Just be sure there is a serial number on the unit. No Satellite receiver has or will ever compare to a Hughes. The picture quality and sound quality (Tru-Surround) is amazing. And, they are so very user friendly. I can read the guide as fast as it scrolls from 20 feet away. Try that with any other receiver.

    Directv SD-HBH Receiver with Remote

    The receivers work great and saved me quite a bit over updating. There not HD but excelent picture. The only draw back was that I had to purchase a new card for $20 from Direct TV, they wouldn't let me use my old ones even though they worked and I owned them. Over all it is worth it. I am very satisified. Joe

    good old receiver

    this is an old receiver, when I called 2 activate the new card from Directv on this receiver they even said, "That's an OLD receiver" Lol I got this receiver on purpose. It is identical to the one I have had for 8 years. My grandparents have gone through more receivers than I can count on both hands. I specifically wanted this one b/c it is excellent quality.
