      Great for old Cold Warriors

      This movie is even better than I remembered it. Good for old Cold Warriors and the youngsters who may like a peek into how it was back then. While it's fiction, it really speaks to an old sub-chaser like myself. And Widmarks Finlander is a real piece of work. A bully and a tyrant through the whole movie, at the end he looks like a deer in the headlights. Priceless. And the interview gives a glimpse into his obsession, ego and narcissism. He gets nuttier every time I watch it. Bottom line...a nice little Naval adventure with a not-so-happy ending. Check it out.

      "The Bedford Incident". An interesting Cold War thriler set on a US Destroyer dueling with a Soviet submersible.

      A really excellent Cold War thriller with an unexpected twist at the end. Poitier and Widmark are in fine form, and the supporting characters/subplots are engaging. If you like this sort of story, this is a good one. Not quite Fail-Safe, but really good.
