I'm not a newbie to canning pickles. I am a newbie to Ball Pickle Crisp. After just one batch of bread-and-butter pickles, I was amazed at how crisp and crunchy my pickles were. My previos batches were ok, so I thought until I added Ball Pickle Crisp, only 1/8 teaspoon per pint jar. Amazingly crisp, just as the jar states. The Ball Pickle Crisp jar is enough to use for a long time since I only use that tiny amount. My family asks what I did differently from prior batches that made the pickles so crunchy. pickle crisp
pickle crisp makes crisp pickles. it is a lot less work than soaking in lime and rinsing 3 times with fresh water. But I must admit they do not come out of jar as crisp as the lime soaked pickle. But I will continue to use pickle crisp because its faster. Kathryn
