The 3.5mm stereo jack was snipped off 32 Ohm extra small speaker from scrap headphones. PAM8403 board works soldered to cut ends of 0.1 inch-pitch header cables with no additional components. Only GND, +3V3, and PWM0 at pin12 on the GPIO suffice. Power supply from raspberry pi at 5 Volts or 3.3 Volts from gpio both worked, at obviously decreased power for the tiny speaker.
