The second Sure Shot device produced by Canon, this vintage device is notable for its fully automatic focus and features. These automated features include the ability to load and advance film, set exposure, set flash, shoot, and rewind. All you need to do is point and shoot in the right direction for a great photograph every time. Outfitted with a 40mm f/1.9 lens, this device offers you a fast and fully automatic fixed lens. Also, since these lenses are always ready to go, there is no delay starting the camera, which makes it easy to get your desired shot in a split second.Known as the Autoboy in Japan, the Sure Shot cameras were popular when introduced in 1979 and were the first compacts made by Canon that allowed novices to always produce great photos. All this was due to Canon's advanced and innovative automation system that let these cameras handle all the basics. The AF35M comes with a lens with a 38mm focal length and a maximum aperture of f/2.8. The camera has frame lines in the viewfinder and even features parallax correction for shooting a close-up photo. This device also has a low-light warning, focus indicator, self-timer, built-in flash, and frame counter. The autofocus and auto exposure features provide further distinction for this vintage original Canon AF35M. In vintage compacts, the AF35M provides an exceptional and reliable metering system using a CdS photo-resister for excellent photographic results. It will be hard to over- or under-expose your pictures, even in tough lighting situations such as in bright snow or at night. In low lighting, just keep your finger on the shutter release until you hear it close. The result will be photos with great exposure in any low-light, naturally lit environment.With a subject in the center of the frame, your photography will be great thanks to all the automatic features. Even subjects that are moving pose no problem for the AF35M. The auto-focusing system uses a pin photodiode and a near-infrared emitting diode to calculate the distance to your subject. You can just point and shoot and forget about everything else. If you want to focus on an off-center subject, make use of the Pre-Focusing/Self-Timer Lever. Besides using it for the obvious purpose of setting a timed release, it allows you to focus on a subject that is not in the viewfinder's central spot. Direct the camera at your subject, focus on it using the Pre-Focus Lever, recompose, and press the shutter release. The camera takes two AA batteries to power its operations.Because of its innovative technology, the Canon Sure Shot AF35M is an important camera and a favorite vintage film model. As a great classic 35mm film point-and-shoot, it remains a great unit through the years for photographers looking to add a film camera to their point-and-shoot collection.     Clunky, slow and loud. But worth every penny.

    It’s old, loud and a little slow. The focus is about as reliable as flipping a coin. But all that aside. It’s super fun. Stick to higher quality films and you’ll get pretty sharp photos. And let your flash charge. Most times the first shot won’t fire. I’ve run about 16 rolls through this guy and once you know how to trick the autofocus, it becomes a much better camera. I love it. Best value in a while.

    Great Job!

    Happy with this camera. Very easy to take pictures with it, however it is almost too automatic. There is no manual focus option and that is its main problem.

    Rewind button doesn’t work.
