The film was written for the screen, produced, and directed by Norman Lear, marking his directorial debut and his only directorial feature film credit. Cold Turkey was based on the unpublished novel I'm Giving Them Up for Good by Margaret and Neil Rau.
Great movie from the early 60's
Russians accidentally run their Submarine aground near a small
New England town and try to get a boat to help pull it off the sand bar.
Everything gets misunderstood and the town thinks the Russians have "parachuted"
in and taking over. There's even a sweet romance between young Russian
sailor and babysitter.😀
