  • Great card, great performance, RGB is terrible because Gigabyte Fusion software is terrible. Not for the aesthetically sensitive.

Exploitative pricing, but that is what the world has come to. Shoes, chlorine tablets, TPM modules (thanks MS), etc. Just took a life threatening scare to make everyone crazy greedy...wait, we already are. Soap box kicked aside here is the review: Great card for my loop. I don't need to overclock this card - 1440p/165hz monitor is what I have. It performs beautifully. So smooth with high fps on ultra settings. I can finally get the most out of my gaming system. Temps are fantastic including the VRAM temps: ~85 C peak with Furmark torturing it and unless you want to shell out an additional $200 for EK custom, those are good temps. Check the inter-web. The chip temps are all good. On the 3080's its the VRAM peak temps that are the Achilles. Gotta look at all of the things, gang. Caveat: I don't care about RGB and if you are going for aesthetics, look elsewhere. This card is ugly, big, and the bloatware to run the lights is plain silliness. MSI board and gigabyte card. What was I thinking? That I could care less about RGB, that's what! Hardware is awesome. Software? I could give a flying monkey in Oz. I mean, look at the picture! My computer can win any ugly sweater contest. It's cold and fast, though :) I'm coming from a 2070 super so this card has nearly doubled my framerates and that's with all of the bells and whistles cranked up. I'd never been able to get a ray-traced game to play without really dumbing-down the settings. Wow, is all I have to say. I'm drinking the Kool-Aid and the sky is bright.

  • GPU die runs COOOOOLD but they could have did better cooling/pads for VRAMs

Caveat, if you're not familiar, ANY card with GDDR6X VRAM runs HOT, meaning the VRAMs themselves RUN HOT. This card runs cool with water cooling but it's insulting how hot the VRAMs still run even water cooled. They should have used superior thermal interfacing and some block/backplate strategy to sink the heat away from the VRAMs and into the block for the gpu. The GPU die runs consistently at ~30°C under high load but the VRAMs will get into the low to mid 80°C (even being water cooled!) This is while mining, gaming it will run slightly cooler but not by much. Great card, not a great price.
