Sabalan). The rug has been professionally cleaned. No stains, animal or smoke. There is some small antique wear over the century, buy if ok, very good for a century old item. This special carpet is made of the finest lamb wool and natural vegetable dyes by skilled crafts people from villages and hamlets at the base of Mt. Sabalan. Its mineral rich waters when used to wash the rug during the finishing process lends unusually rich tones famous for the region. Double tied knots upon two foundation layers for another century of durability. Rich spectrum of red from pomegranate madder root and vermilion, dark to light blue from indigo grape lilac hyacinth and centaurea cyanus, brown earths, wheats and tans from larkspur and weld.”
