    Seal install

    After installing seals all my life, this one took the cake. Opened the package, and found the spring half off, so put it back in. Upon installing it the lip of the seal turned outward, and therefore leaked my oil out as the engine sat overnight, without being run . I must be out of practice, but it’s not an easy one. Ordered another one and haven’t had time to mess with it yet. Maybe tomorrow.

    Hard to install

    The seal is the right size for the housing and the shaft. The lip is narrow where the spring or the seal goes, so the lip tries to fold over upon installation. The remedy is to take a small screwdriver and help the lip of the seal to go around the shaft.
