The first space flight to Venus returns to Earth carrying a specimen of Venusian life called the Ymir. When the ship crashes into the sea upon its re-entry into Earth's atmosphere, the small, reptilian creature escapes, growing to an enormous size, eventually terrorizing the city of Rome. The always beautiful and impressive creature animations of the great Ray Harryhausen elevate the film above the level of ordinary 1950's monster sci-fi. The Ymir is one of the best-known creations in his long, distinguished career.

Monster Movie from your childhood
Joan Taylor is a beauty to behold. The story is okay, with Harihausen stop motion content you cannot miss. The "Creature" is as always one of the best content elements. It is a budget production once again, so do not expect Cleopatra like sets and costuming. Black and white is the complementary format. Great memories of 15-25 cents matinees to avoid the summer heat at 1:00 in the afternoon, in air conditioned theaters, Relive that childhood thru this sci if classic from the 50's

Ray Harryhausn at his finest work.
One of the earliest Ray Harryhausn monster movies in glorious back and white. This one rates the best. I recommend this film to any die hard sci Fi fan as well as any Kaiju fan. If you haven't seen this movie, it's not too late.
