  • An excellent cheap lens

I bought this to use on a Nikon D7100. I tried it out tonight and was well pleased with the results. If you're looking at one of these, understand this is a low end Tamron. There's no comparison between it and the SP line. But for what it is, it's a great bargain. Even in their cheaper lens Tamron has good glass in them. This is designed for a camera with a built in focus motor. On my camera it focused smoothly and sharply. There was no jockeying back and forth like it was hunting for something to focus on. The images were sharp and when I wanted it had just the right amount of background blur. It did decent in night photography. For what I paid for it I'd never find one better. Drawbacks? The only real one to be concerned about that i can see is the plastic mount. You don't want to bang this around very much. The mounting lugs will break, but they do on plastic Nikons also. Bottom line is if you want an inexpensive lens in ths 28-80 range, and you're on a budget, and not rough with your equipment you should take a look at this one. Here's a sample night shot using the lens.
