Product Information

Based on William Somerset Maugham's novel, THE RAZOR'S EDGE follows a young man's search for identity. After experiencing WWI, veteran Larry Darrell (Bill Murray) seeks spiritual peace and recovery. After leaving his fiancee (Catherine Hicks), he travels to war-torn Europe and finally to the mystic Himalayas, and eventually finds what he's looking for in manual labor and the wisdom of an Indian guru. However, Larry realizes that he can no longer resume the life he left behind, and that he must end his relationship with his fiancee if he is to reach his goal. But he finds love with another woman (Theresa Russell), an she causes new trouble for Larry. A labor of love for Murray, he wrote the script with director John Byrum and demonstrates previously unseen dramatic strength.

    WW 1 vet has a life changing events after the war.

    It's such an amazing movie for Bill early in his career. You would not expect this to be a Bill Murry movie. The story is profound, I had watched it on and off over the years and I finally realized I love this story and even read the book by W. Somerset Maugham, it's a masterpiece.

    The Razors Edge is a must

    Although it's not as good as the original Razor's Edge for 1946 or 1947 with Tyrone Power. It is a great facsimile film and covers pretty much the same themes as original movie does. I read the book by s Somerset maugham oh, and is pretty much accurate to the description of what was written. I highly recommend this movie and this was a great vehicle for Bill Murray who for the first time in his life did a great serious role

    Good movie, Bill Murray played non-comical role very well, cast was good

    Good overall, though a bit short in Tibet....could have been lengthened with a better closing to that segment of movie. Bill Murray played a good moreso serious role, and I thought he did a good job. Nice scenery, pretty good story. Good cast and scenery.

    A wonderfully intense and profound Bill Murray performance

    A very intense, funny, edgy classic film in my opinion. Bill Murray, Brian Murray, Theresa Russel, James Keach are all extremely talented actors and well suited for this film. This is a drama mostly, and it may be tedious to some who enjoy more action and suspense. However, it's a film worth watching
