Great portable recoder
I did a lot of research, this unit creates nearly hissless recordings, no 60hz hum if ran on batteries. Phantom power works good with condenser mics. Batteries last about 2 hours running 2 tracks of wav. Be sure to carry spare batteries if going remote or get the external pack. Works with mico-usb for long term use with external condenser. In short, it's a great recorder.
With a decent shotgun microphone atop the camera, the DR-60 is a remarkably convenient unit to use. I loved my DR-40, but it always required an additional mount to use it or I had to duct tape it to the tripod leg. The DR-60 has no mikes, so it isn't a stand-alone device, but for field recoding while filming it is terrific. But to use it as a stand-alone recorder, all one needs do is place the mike on the tripod screw atop the recorder.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Excellent Recorder But
This is an excellent audio recorder, 96K sample 24 bit word 4channel recordings. But it is a power hog. To get recordings of usable length the DR-60D mkII must be connected to an external power bank via the USB.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
