I found that using the choke and pulling 1-2 times till it sputters, then shutting the choke off and pulling 1-2 more times will get it to start from cold 100% of the time. It made very quick work of a tree and some branches I needed to cut up. My one complaint is that it's very easy to hit the off switch, but a quick pull on the starter and it's running again. So not horrible. Great saw for the price!!
