A beautiful phone that exceeds expectations despite a few shortcomings, the HTC One S easily rises to the top of mid-range smartphones with higher price tags. The finely crafted 5.5-inch by 2.56-inch unit is far from the emerging large sized tablets and phablets like the Samsung Galaxy, but it feels sturdy and provides a nice grip, unlike bulky smartphone units. Its svelte anodized aluminum body with smoothly curved back creates a streamlined look. At 0.31 of an inch thick, the One S is breathtakingly thin, even thinner than the Apple iPhone 4S and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and almost as thin as the Android Motorola Droid RAZR. Previously offered by T-Mobile, this unlocked phone features the brand’s logo on the glass just above the screen instead of the carrier’s logo. A 4.3 inches qHD Super AMOLED display occupies most of the front side of the unlocked HTC One S. It provides a 960x540 resolution at 256ppi pixel density, which is higher compared with other mid-range phones. It may not be as sharp as the Android HTC One X, but it does a great job of displaying videos and images in vivid and crisp details. With its Super AMOLED display technology, the colors are vibrant with deeper blacks and higher contrast. A Corning Gorilla glass sits on top of the display and protects it from occasional drops. The HTC One S is powered by a dual-core 1.5Ghz Snapdragon S4 processor and runs on Ice Cream Sandwich OS. Supported by 1GB of RAM, the phone is quick and responsive. Applications, videos, images and menus open with pep and animations play smoothly – a feat that many Android handsets have trouble achieving in a mid-range device. The lack of expandable memory is offset by a 16GB internal storage. Another exciting feature is HTC One S’ Beats Audio technology, which promises to boosts the bass of low-end dance, rap, and electronic music styles. When compatible headphones are connected to the jack, it automatically equalizes the settings to the particular model of headphones or earphones, overall enhancing your music listening experience. The same technology is found on Samsung Galaxy units and Apple devices, such as Apple iPhone 5, iPad and iPod. You may need to get a Beats headphone from a phone accessories store to enjoy awesome sound clarity. Its ImageSense technology enables impressive and fast image capturing through its 8MP camera. Features, such as HDR mode allows capturing of photos in higher resolution, while burst mode shots images in machine-gun-like speeds. Tweaking the camera’s advanced settings makes sure that you do not lose quality while shooting images. The camcorder surprisingly captures 1080p videos at 30 fps. If the 16GB is not enough storage, you can transfer files to a laptop via Bluetooth or the micro USB port. The HTC One S lacks LTE connectivity, but its GSM HSDPA+ data connection delivers optimal results and satisfying download and browsing speeds. It accommodates a single SIM and runs on GSM and HSPA. Since it is an unlocked phone and not a contract phone from T-Mobile, you can swap SIM cards and use the device even in international countries that support GSM and HSPA networks. Its Wi-Fi network connects seamlessly with any available hotspots, letting you download files and browse without noticeable lags. Aside from Wi-Fi, the HTC One S also comes with a built-in GPS for turn-by-turn directions, FM Radio for over-the-air music listening and Bluetooth for file sharing. This unlocked HTC One S comes free from T-Mobile or carrier-mandated customizations, such as bloatware and often unnecessary apps. A 1650mAh battery promises to deliver up to seven hours of talking and claims to last up to 18 days in standby mode. The Li-ion battery is replaceable and allows you to buy extra batteries from a phone accessories stories to swap with depleted ones when necessary. This device offers plenty of features with relatively few trade-offs and an array of accessories.

    good phone

    Phone stylish, comfortable, good to wear pocket, nice and easy to use menu,responds quickly.The only thing that surprised me,my old phone HTC A9192 Inspire 4G has better reception than HTC ONE S.For me it is important, I'm working on the sea and sometimes moving away from the coast and never complained about us poor connection to the shore using an old phone.My new phone HTC ONE S just stopped seeing the SIM card when the on the old 2 bars.I use ATT Services.I do not get upset, this phone will use my wife on the shore.Sincerely Yuriy.

    Great and very stylish phone ... light and slim

    Overall great cell phone with powerful processor (S4 variant), same amount of RAM comparing to the most high end devices available in the market today, can easily beat any high end device hands down when it comes to performance. reasonable storage capacity of 16gb almost 10gb of which is available to the user. Now for the device offered by this specific seller the device is rooted with a custom firmware/ROM which is stripped downed to very basic version of Android ICS 4.0.3 to say the least, automatic software update feature has been removed. If you want to upgrade to one of the latest software versions you will have to do it manually by flashing custom ROMS. Device comes with TWRP recovery pre-installed.

    Excellent Mobile HTC One S

    I bought this phone for me to try and very useful result, I like pretty, has good screen resolution, processor and memory moves very well and above all the disk space, the only thing I do not like is that the company HTC does not give you update that brings, but really for me it is very good.

    Burned alive in the Desert!

    This was the dumbest thing i ever attempted. Custom Firmware was the term where i went wrong. Lost time and money to get a working cell phone has taught me a lesson. Walk in to a reputable retail store and touch, play, and see exactly how the phone will work for you. Pay a real live human being with a name, so you have a resource after the sale. I saved nothing. I still do not have a call making phone 4 1/2 weeks later. E bay is no way to buy hi-tech. $382.95 plus $35.00 more and 1 1/2 weeks to go. If you can learn from someone who gambled and lost, i recommend using ebay for everything but cellphones. I could have helped feed the homeless or something meaningful with the money i did not save.

    A real deal! Would recommend the One S over most $400+ phones of 2013

    This is the greatest phone you can find for around $250 today. If you can sleep at night knowing it does not have the smoothest screen or the latest Android version, this beauty has to offer more than most $400+ new phones have today: It has MHL, so you can connect it to a monitor/projector with a $10 adapter, actually the Galaxy S4 and HTC One Minis can't do that. The lower resolution/faster dual core combination makes it snappier than most mid range quad core phones. Many phones today have a 8MP camera, but this is on the high end of the scale and it snaps faster even than big guys like the Galaxy S4. Quality is above average too. It's thinner and lighter than most phones today.
