Amazing game! I love every game of the Max Payne series, but this one was a nice risk/take on the series. It still has the originals' amazing writing and acting, but they take a different route over the graphic novel approach. I do miss the graphic novel approach, but they still did a great job translating that feel into the gameplay cinematics. I highly recommend if you are a Max Payne fan!

This game is a polished turd. Looks good but plays terrible compared to the rest of the series. I would not buy it again.

Max payne 3 is the first game of the series I have played after reading and hearing many good things about max payne series. This is a great game which has - - good story - slightly old graphics - great game play mechanics - controls are not difficult to learn. - excellent cinematic cut scenes - Bullet time (This is fun! once you master it.) some folks have complained about having too many cinematic scenes and repetitive gun play, But i believe it gels very well in to the story and doesn't bother me. Highly recommended for casual or hardcore gamers.
Max Payne 3 is a good game. Fantastic indeed. -Story- The story of Max Payne is front and center. It's great and have brilliant pacing. Max is tormented, and feels he deserves to wallow in his torment. He's drunk for most of the game, and constantly haunted by his own decisions. The story starts off with Max drunkanly body- guarding a high class family. The story quickly has its twists and turns, and dips frequently from past to present. Story - 9/10 -Gameplay- Gameplay for Max Paynes Campaign is very fun. Diving and shooting feels great and solid. Ducking behind cover is great and there is no recovering health without popping a painkiller (like a first aid kit). The gameplay is very tight and the controls rarely betray you. The difficulty on normal can prove pretty challenging at times, but frequent check points combat frustration and annoyance. Gameplay - 8/10 -Multiplayer- This is where i had the biggest problems. Multiplayer for me, was just plain chaos and not much fun. It takes on some neat ideas, but it just seems forced to me. When playing multiplayer, Max's signature time slow ablity is given to everyone! When this is triggered only the people on your screen (the ones you aim at) are affected by the slow down. Neat idea, and it works, but sometimes feels weird and wonky. A lot of time during the gunfights things just feel cheap. But unlockables and a customizable character will keep people coming back. Multiplayer wasnt a hit for me...but for some it might be just what they needed. Multiplayer - 6/10 -Overall- Overall Max Payne is a wonderful experience. Just for the campaign alone, its worth the 60 bucks. Add on multiplayer and its a great deal. Overall all appeal - 9/10Read full review
This addition to Max's depressing and bloody escapades occasionally achieves the feel of the first two, but disappoints in elements of both story and gameplay. (multiplayer not covered). To make this quick, comprising the good are appealing visuals, well designed gun fights and level layout including useful set pieces, and of course everyone loves bullet time. While the bad includes animations that are too long making the control and cover system sluggish, an uninteresting and anticlimactic story, a new mechanic called "last man standing" for which there should be an instantly available toggle, and poorly implemented extras like golden guns and seemingly useless hidden clues.
