  • An average work by a great writer.

I am a self confessed fan of Neil Gaiman’s work, however, I don’t feel this is one of his better efforts. Anansi Boys seems somewhat flat. One of the dust jacket reviews draws a comparison to Douglas Adams, of Hitchhiker's fame, however, Anansi Boys doesn't seem to measure up. Where I actually liked the Hitchhiker's protagonist, Arthur Dent, I found myself ambivalent about the fate of Anansi Boys Fat Charlie. The characters were a bit too two-dimensional for my taste. True, I laughed through the first third of the book, but the remainder just didn’t have the staying power of an Adams or Pratchett work. For a better example of what this novel could have been check out Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman’s Good Omens. Still, I’m going to keep it in my collection. There were some ...

  • Left turn, right turn, up, down...wow!

After reading Neil Gaiman's American Gods I just had to get this book. To say I was not disappointed is an understatement. Neil mixes mythology with the modern world setting very well. The story is a nice read with a lot of sudden left and right turns. Although the character base seems divided through most of the story you will be surprised at the end to find out how everything was always connected. I can‘t wait for another edition from Neil.

  • Best Book I've Read This Year...

This is the first Neil Gaiman book I've ever read, but rest assured I'm going to read more! This was one of the most refreshing and different novels I have read in a long time. This is a fantastic story that takes you all over. It is at once epic and personal and never strays too far from its light-hearted touch, even when addressing more weighty matters. I really enjoyed this, and can't wait to read more from this interesting author. In the end, this book just makes you happy, and I can't say that about too much literature these days.

  • Stellar Read!

I bought this book on the recommendation of a friend. Once I started to read it, I was hooked. The story, while sporadic at times, still follows a well defined line. The side stories in it set the next chapter up superbly. Gaiman describes his characters exceptionally well and the bits he leaves out are easily filled in by your imagination, which make them that much more appealing or un-likable. An excellent read, from the first time, to the 5th(which is where I am now!).

  • Twists & Turns

Lots of twists and turns. Really makes you think while you are reading. Great fun!
