  • Great replacement freewheel for an MF-TZ500

Make sure to get the correct 7 speed freewheel for your bike, either a 14-28t or 14-34t. In my case I needed both to fix two different bikes. Both freewheels were super easy to install. To remove the old freewheel, you'll need a Park Tools FR-1.3 tool. A chain whip is not needed, the freewheel self-tightens as you ride the bike. This fixed the chain-jumping issue I had on both bikes when I replaced the chain with a KMC X8 chain (you can use an 8 speed chain on a 7 speed bike with no issues).

  • Nice indeed!

This freewheel performs exactly as I expected it to even down to the dramatic torque change from the inner gear to the second gear though it still takes me by surprise from time to time. I ride a Schwinn Sidewinder with a steel frame and periodically tow a heavily loaded trailer along with panniers on the rear rack which is why I ordered this particular freewheel. Completely satisfied and would highly recommend this product for any road bike used for heavy hauling, especially in hilly areas.

  • Comes Complete with Spoke Protector

This is about the best Shimano freewheel I have owned to date considering what I use it for. It comes with a built in spoke protector that is very resourceful. Shifting is smooth and precise. I like it and would recommend this to Shimano product users. Installation is A to B.

  • More useful gearing

The lower gearing -34t vs 28t is just what I needed for a more comfortable trail ride on my fat-tire bike.
