Great toy for the money!
Bought this for my almost 8 year old boy for Easter. He says he absolutely loves it! He does have difficulty transforming him though. I would say for his age it is perfect, he is a very patient boy. The beginning age suggestion of 5 years might be a little young, unless you know your child well enough to know he/she can transform it! With some work, it's very fun.
Pretty much every friction joint and peg/peghole needed some handy-dandy floorwax added to it because they were all too loose. The flat hinged plates on the shoulders are flexible and fragile, I needed a heat gun to repair the stress marks. Might be easier if the corners of those ratchet hinges were sanded a little. Knees are floppy and he can't stand straight up, but in a crouching battle pose he looks pretty rad. Thinking of painting the "cape" inside black, and adding some weathering here and there. I was happy to figure out weapon storage in every mode. After reading several on-line reviews of this toy, I was reluctant to purchase due to the complexity some had described. I did purchase for my 8 yr. old grandson and found that he had no trouble at all with it. I highly recommend this for children 8+, but not for younger kids.
