First of all, regarding audio quality. This is one of those releases where the audio was lovingly transferred from the japanese release, instead of taken from a tape copy (which sometimes happened before flash drives were the norm). In other words, it sounds perfect. Now about the differences. The japanese version had a short, TV length version of the opening, and the full ending theme. However, since the ending was a Radiohead song, to save on royalty costs, it was removed for the US release. HOWEVER, americans were compensated by the inclusion of the extended opening, taken from the band's album Turbulence. You win some, you lose some. And hey, if you still want the Radiohead song, you can just get OK Computer separately, it's not exactly a rare album. A neat bonus is an english interview with the composer included in the booklet, as well as the short but fun story of how the ending and opening songs ended up in the anime. I cannot guarantee the japanese release had that.Read full review
