The good: Product inside box is new and functions as it should. The not so good: Said it was in NJ, but came from CA. Double boxing would have been nice considering bought as brand new; product box a bit beat up from 3000 mile trip. Also, a simple "Hey, thanks for your purchase" "Hope it arrived ok" type of communication would have been appreciated seeing how it was a $500 plus transaction after tax. BTW, I would have paid extra for double boxing.

    Incredible Preamp!

    The GAP Pre-73 Premiere is an incredible preamp! Low noise, high gain with several options for additional sonic character. The “Low Z” button in particular is great for the character but also to increase the signal of the microphone. The “Air” switches are great for adding a little sparkle to the top end. The Carnhill transformers are what really make this unit pop! It adds just a little bit of saturation that makes whatever you’re recording sound fantastic! Does it sound exactly like a Neve 1073? No Does it sound close enough? Yes Does it sound good? Absolutely I’ve used plenty of higher end gear to know from personal experience what good gear should sound like and this is it right here. In fact I prefer it over other higher end gear. Compared to say the Warm Audio WA73, the GAP Pre-73 ...

    Makes me sound better

    I have a few digital and tube pack pre amps. So I was amazed when I first heard this pre 73 I 've wanted one for a while. I tried it with my large diaphragm condensors, ATM 4039, and with my live sm58 and ev 474 it shines on both ! Just smooths and compresses the sound so warmly, it is very nice.
