About this product

Product Information

The African plains provide a stunning environment for Jan Brett's latest animal adventure. For as long as anyone can remember, the honeyguide bird and the African honey badger have been partners when it comes to honey-Honeyguide finds the honeycomb, Badger breaks it open, and they share the sweetness inside. But this day, Badger keeps all the honey for himself. Foolish Badger! In no time, Honeyguide leads Badger on a fast chase. Badger thinks it's for honey; but Honeyguide has a surprise waiting for her greedy friend. As they swim across a pond, push through a thicket of reeds, leap over a huge anthill, a menagerie of exotic animals passes the news along in a kind of animal Bush Telegraph. Finally Badger faces a lift-the-flap page, revealing the twist that teaches Badger a lesson. Can you guess who's under that flap? Honey . . . Honey . . . Lion! will surely become a family favorite for readers of all ages.

the sticker on the front was no big deal at all. the seller was upfront about it in the description which i appreciate. it came off easily with a bit of alcohol and scraping. there was a rip in the package when i received it, but i know that wasn't the sellers fault- definitely the post office. shipping was quicker than i expected and the book is in amazing condition. super excited to start reading since i just finished the first book and the price? such a great deal and find! seller is fanastic

  • Fun unique kids book!

This is one of a few choice library books we checked out that I knew we had to have in our own library. Not only do my kids LOVE this book, it's one that's truly enjoyable to read over and over as an adult. Through Honey Honey Lion, kids learn about the flow of a storyline that builds to a climax, and they also learn about our world, animals, cooperation and the potential consequences of selfishness. What makes this book truly a must-have though is that on top of all these other good things, the illustrations are PHENOMENAL. The African safari is depicted so realistically you feel like you're actually there, and the borders of each page give it an "African" feel. It's just a beautifully done story both audibly and visually. My favorite books are ones the kids learn from and they learn a ...

  • Granddaughter's Favorite Illustrator

I am a children's librarian and have led many book discussions with Jan Brett's work. I have to admit this is not my favorite of her many outstanding books. In 2007 this title was nominated for a children's choice award in Illinois and I told my first-grade granddaughter I would buy the book for which she voted. This was it and she was thrilled to have her own copy.

  • Honey, Honey, Lion!

I love Jan Brett's books and so do many others. She is a wonderful artist. Be sure to visit her website to see a video on how she visited Africa and did research for this book. She also has many art lessons on her website.
