The Wii console comes with a composite cable set when purchased. While this was fairly workable back in 2006, modern users or even users of higher end TVs at the time could lament a more washed out, low quality image provided by composite technology. However, Nintendo offered this additional cable for EDTVs and HDTVs, which allows the Wii to output 480p instead of the standard 480i. The resulting image quality is crisp, removes many instances of “dancing” image features and more than a few jaggies, and overall just makes the experience a much more pleasant treat for the eyes for modern users, who are undoubtably now used to the industry standard progressive scan (p, i.s. 480p, 720p, etc) as opposed to the then common, inferior interlaced format. This is a much recommended product for people who want to get the most out of their Wii through official means; do keep in mind, however, it will not output the enhanced signal until you enable it in the TV settings menu of the Wii system settings.Read full review

The Wii component cable was genuine, sufficiently lengthy, and arrived soon after ordering. The Wii's picture output looks fantastic on an HDTV with this cable over composite. Very good purchase!

Very great cable to use. Glad it is the OEM cable and the visuals are great but the sound is AMAZING. Really takes advantage of stereo and immerses you into the game and software with all that nostalgia flowing back.
