    Quality recording classic

    The Who's epic classic remastered by Pete Townsend in this deluxe version and more with outtakes from the original recording which you will find great and something I cannot stop playing over and over. A excellent CD, worth getting.

    The DEFINITIVE Edition. BUY IT.

    I read the liner notes... this is taken from the Original Stereo Master, which was thought to be lost a long time ago. After 30 plus years, PT found it in the vault!! Which means that all the other editions that were supposed to be Audiophile? Aren't! MoFi and all ... I play this SACD through a mid-fi system... I thought I knew every note after hundreds of listens, but everything is here, even new notes have snuck in! I sat down and listened to the whole thing, straight thru, almost never do that anymore. The noise floor is lower, dynamics are better, midrange mud is gone, and soundstage is stable. YOU WILL LOVE THIS, even playing the regular CD layer on an average system. This is the Definitive Disk, no need to do it again. DONE.

    The Who "Tommy" SACD Hybrid

    SACDs are really the only way to get that analog feeling in 5.1 multi-channel stereo. On "Tommy" Roger Daltry went back in the studio divided the audio from the "Tommy" master tapes into five channels, which gives the music room to breathe. The vocalist gets his own speaker, the guitars, the drums, etc. As a result, there are subtle sounds layered in this 5.1 channel recording that you'd never hear on a two channel stereo recording. Not all analog recordings retooled for SACD come out well, but this one is really pretty good. SACD's are hard to come by in the local record store because until just recently SACD players were pricey. ebay is great way to supplement your high-quality audio recording collection, provided that the price, once shipping is rolled ...

    Sounds like I'm in the middle of the music

    I received the album a day early, sealed in plastic. It was in new condition. I feel the album translated well to multichannel music. Kudos to The engineer who remixed it! I don't think I'll be listening to the other disc without vocals. I don't really see a need for it.
