The item is listed at genuine leather, however, when I tried to oil the closure to soften it, the oil just beaded up. Either this is not genuine leather or they have coated it with some type of sealant that was not disclosed in the description that will prevent it from being maintained as normal leather would be. The sandwich case does function as I need it to though, so I will still attach it to my saddle fill it with horse treats.
