    Great item, easy to flow through library, apps and internet.

    This is one of the first Kindle Fire as these went all the way up to 10. This is the second generation which has 8gb of storage, but does not have a option for a micro sd card to expand the storage space. Given that, you can have a lot of books in your library, particularly if you use a program like Calibre which even converts epub or pdf to the Kindle mobi version. It is a good idea to keep your apps limited and use them on a laptop or tablet as they can eat up storage space. The Kindle uses it's own web browser, but you can switch to one of your choice like Chrome or other. In reading books on this device, I switched to a black background and larger text as that is easier for me, particularly for reading when in a unlit area.     Excellent device

    1st generation is not as speedy and glossy as the newer 5th generation, but for what it is this device is excellent. And it's not expensive to get the port fixed like in the case of my purchase. A few extra dollars fixed it. Overall a good device for a book reader, but I would not use the 1st generation for a tablet.

    Used yet in good condition!

    This is actually my first kindle. The longevity of battery life was just days, even for a week. I don't use it too often, but when I do, the battery life is just great! I can play music, and read any ebook I buy or rent. However, you only get wifi at certain places, or all places, depending which cafe will have wifi (like StarBucks). I have wifi at my own place, so it's good (I don't normally take it out too often). So, get this! it's cheap, and worth the price!

    I love this Kindle, its every thing I expected it to be and more!!! its a great value for the money, has long battery life, the quality of the screen is excellent, I can search the web, hit up face book and so much more, in fact I bought this same Kindle for a friend as a gift and she thinks she has hit the JACK-POT she really enjoys it as much as I do, holds tons of books. I would not trade my Kindle first generation in on a brand new one. Its every thing I expected and more. Thanks Kindle for a great device!!

    kindle 1st gen good for my purpose

    I'm a pre-school bus driver. I bought 15 used to put cartoons on. I also put a few "freebee" games. It keeps them "wanting" to get on the bus. They stay behaved and entertained for almost an hour and some more than an hour coming to school and going home. I varied the cartoons on each so each one is over 2/3 different than the others. Battery life isn't bad. They generally last 4 routes (2 days). Cartoons and games takes a lot of power so they are just fine.
