The shaft is no good anymore, its rusted inside. I guess it was a big possibility due to the age of the club.

Still as good a golf club for mid to high-handicappers as there is.
This is one of those oldie-but-goodies that's still around. Ping made the iron for amateurs to have years ago, and the Ping Eye2 and the next generation of Pings are still servicing a lot of golfers. It's a forgiving club with a solid look. Good-condition Ping Eye2s are out there for an excellent price; you can get a set or irons for half of a comparable set of used ones 3-5 years old and they'll serve you just as well. You also have the advantage of using Ping's color chart that's still the best way to get the right angle on clubs for your height and arm length.This is one of those oldie-but-goodies that's still around. Ping Eye 2 Golf Clubs
I have been playing Ping eye 2+ irons since I purchased my first used set, 25 years ago. These are great irons but my original #5 iron's shaft broke off in the hosel. Local golf shops didn't want to work on the tapered shaft, and Ping would fix it for $30-$35 plus shipping both ways. While this replacement doesn't match my set's serial numbers, it is a great iron, now in my bag! Since these clubs were made, the only other irons I would consider are the early 2000 - 2003 Callaway HawkEye irons. As long as I can keep hitting these well, I will continue to enjoy (IMHO) the best irons Ping made!I have been playing Ping eye 2+ irons since I purchased my first used set, 25 years ago. After so many years, Ping eye 2 still gets it done!
These clubs, long known for their forgivability, still play strong and feel great. As a beginner to the sport, a friend reccomended getting used clubs to start with. I found some Ping Eye 2 clubs at the flea market and re-gripped them. I started with a 9 iron. What a great club! I hope in heaven all golf shots are a 9 iron! Since then i've picked up a few more on Ebay. Ebay is one of the few places I found single Pings of a particular angle (red dot) in good shape. I now have 5-SW and am very satisfied. I don't see myself trading them in any time soon.These clubs, long known for their forgivability, still play strong and feel great. The Ping Eye 2 golf club is tried and true in its design and playability. I have many customers over the years tell me time and time again that they wish they never sold their Pings. I still think they are one of the most playable, forgiving sets that were ever made and the design is still used in most every set. I would recommend this set of clubs to most anyone who can swing a stiff shaft. All of the original sets had stiff shafts and although they may or may not be marked the shafts a a stiff flex. The set will provide an inexpensive, playable base for most golfers to propel their games forward.
