Engaging subjects - incredible images
I am your typical dad that occasionally watches documentaries on wildlife. However, the animals and most of the subjects were new to me and very interesting. I watched it with my teenage kids and they were also impressed. Rather than your typical topics like 'predators in the jungle' or 'sea life in the pacific' the subjects were more broad and the detailed animals and plants discussed had little connection to each other - it was more like they found the more interesting animals and behaviors then presented these to the viewer. I thought this presentation was refreshing and kept me quite interested. The most amazing part was the imagery - how the behaviors were filmed is breathtaking - highly detailed and in many instances close up. The only real negative was that disk three showed a ... I am your typical dad that occasionally watches documentaries on wildlife. However, the animals and most of the subjects were new to me and very interesting. I just purchased this whole set. I had watched a lot of it on Nat Geo channel. I just love it. It is a great tool for teaching about animals and the life cycles of many species for anyone of any age! I could watch this over and over and still be in awe at some of the video shots. 5 stars to Discovery channel/BBC again. I have found I love they're programs and have startyed to buy all of the sets they have out. Being handicaped now and lossing the ability to do the things I once loved; like being in the outdoors and seing these animals for myself. These videos help to ease the mental pain of losing the ability to walk or hike long distances, as well as the physical pain when I do try to walk just a little to far. They are great to sit down, watch and remember when I could get way out there ... I just purchased this whole set. I had watched a lot of it on Nat Geo channel. I just love it. An excellent educational DVD! Detailed & well written.
I bought the LIFE DVD several weeks ago. It is an amazing DVD that captures well the life of animals and birds from how they feed, make their homes and seek mates. The color and quality of the DVD is excellent with the camera slowing down the actions taking place on the screen so that one can experience the concept better. It is a great DVD that the whole family can enjoy!

Beautiful and informative
Excellent entry into the BBC Earth series, I was concerned Oprah Winfrey would not be a great choice as a narrator as I am not really a fan of hers. I was very pleasantly surprised that she did an excellent job. I would highly recommend this as being as good as the original Planet Earth series.

Life,It's fantastic if you have the right film-crew
I bought the Life DVD 4-Disk set few weeks ago. It was for my father because he absolutely loved animal documentaries. I was impressed and the whole family loved the it. The quality of the picture is so life-like and the slow-motion segments were epic. Not only did it have information on animals, it had a segment on plants as well. It is also a great education tool for people as well. Use it for a Biology class or maybe an Animal biology class.
