Great old PPC Mac for Light Design Work
Ideal for light graphics work using my vintage QuarkXpress and Adobe CS software from the early 2000s. And, tweaked properly with more RAM and TenFourFox, this old iBook has new life. Just designed an ad with PhotoShop and Illustrator and sending this review via TenFourFox!

Overview of iBook G3s: problems and values
These machines would be perfect for a child, playing games, or an older (pre-computer age) parent, learning E-mail. They do fine with simple word processing applications, and are capable of searching the web. But Apple had a compatability issue with Flash video format (used in YouTube), so that video on the web is so jerky that it is not usable. There is also an issue with the video chip on many of these, which cracks with repeated heating and cooling so that the motherboard loses contact with the screen. You can tell if this is happening by pinching it hard to the left of the trackpad while it boots. There are some mythical videos on the web on fixing this with heat (a candle), but I have never found it to work, although the problem can be fixed with a washer. The G4s are much ... I see some of these on "Buy it Now" for outrageous amounts, clearly targeted to people who want a Mac, but don't understand the limitations of these machines. The correct amount to pay for a G3, 500 Mhz is $60-$80. I would pay $100 for a working G3 800 Mhz (with WiFi), but anything more, and you are being cheated.

Great Little Laptop!
I currently own two iBooks. They are great. They are easy to carry. Very portable. Great to leave in your living room to surf the internet. They aren't the fastest laptops but with a little upgrade, they can easily be. The G3's don't update very well and Apple doesn't provide very many updates. Like.. you can't get the latest Safari. Still, it is a great little laptop with WIFI. HIGHLY RECCOMEDED!! I hope this helps.I currently own two iBooks. They are great. They are easy to carry. Very portable. The Apple iBook was a great buy with great speed and lightweight.
Love this laptop. It was a great buy with excellent speed for an average user. I bought this Apple iBook for my Uncle and I can truly say it been nothing but wonderful so far. I would definitely be buy this product again.
