Celtic Frost retake their throne after 15 yrs!
It is a rare occurance indeed to not find Celtic Frost mentioned on any die hard Black Metal fans 'favourite' or Black Metal bands 'influence' list. Listening to 'Monotheist' it is easy to see why. Not a raw slice of Black Metal, but a somewhat progessive and unique take on impenertrable darkness. To quote nearly all underground magazines, this comeback, unlike most comebacks which fail before the first hurdle, leaps far above the heads of nearly all of the bands of today prooving that they still have what it takes to blow away all opposition and retake their throne. This album would be a worthwhile buy at well over ten pounds and seeing as it can be purchased here for under five pounds - cheaper even than the download - I would simply have to recommend this album to fans of Black Metal ... Celtic Frost is Back!!!
What can I say, Celtic Frost has roared back with a very ominous, depressing, pummeling release. The overall creepiness of this cd reminds me of cannibals, devouring a dying god, reigning supreme after fulfilling flesh-filled fantasies. The more I listen to this cd, the more insane I feel I become. Pretty impressive for a cd. The guitars have a sort-of down-tuned feel, like Black Sabbath used to do, that leads the listener to an overall sense of foreboding. Feel confident in this metal release, another gem from a band making a come back, though whether they ever truly went away is for the fan to decide.What can I say, Celtic Frost has roared back with a very ominous, depressing, pummeling release. Excelent CD
I'm fan of Celtic Frost. This Cd is heavy, atmospheric, doomed and deep songs. Compared with others Cds of Celtic it has a modern/traditional/heavy sound. I liked it so much. Nice and profound lyrics.
