Decent product, saves money!
I like to brew different gourmet coffees and this allows me to do so. These definitely work better than the permanent mesh screen cups, as those tend to leave grounds in your cup when brewing coffee. The java jig does a better job brewing a better cup of coffee. It is also way more economical then buying k-cups.

nice concept, not so nice execution
I like and respect Melitta for their product quality generally speaking. This product is an exception, I must say. With the opportunity to make something really useful for millions of coffee lovers everywhere, it appears they squandered their opportunity with this JavaJig. I've tried using it a about 20 times or so, and only once or twice did it provide a filtered cup of coffee without a big mess. It appears that the filter paper is simply too weak to withstand the pressure of a Keurig brewer, which it is designed to be used with. I'm using the K55 brewing system, and while this product appears to go together with the brewer perfectly, it consistently "blows" a fracture in the filter paper, and sends grinds all over the place, including the innards of the brewing insert and the cup of ... The insert must then be flushed out omitting a K-cup and running at least 2 brew cycles. I've cleaned up many a mess trying to get this product to work acceptably, to no avail. Try this and you'll see why the filter paper fails. After brewing a cup of coffee using a K-cup, allow the k-cup to cool a bit, then remove the sealed foil topper that has been pierced in the center. Thoroughly wash/rinse out the coffee grinds from the exposed k-cup, and you'll see the pleated filter medium used by the brewing system specifications. it's wet now, so using finger pressure only, press inside the cup with enough force to rupture the filter medium. Compare the strength of the filter medium in the k-cup with that of a just used Melitta JavaJig filter, and the difference in media strength is startling! Sorry, Melitta, you just didn't engineer the filter media for the task.

New and Improved JavaJig
JavaJig has had a complete overhaul and works amazingly well. As you can see in these photos, they added ribs on the bottom of the outer cup to hold the filter in place. The filter material is much stronger and has better flow qualities. They also changed the size so that it fits much better, and they added creases to make seating the filter more precise. They made the feet on the holster thicker to make it much more durable, and they added a rib to keep grounds from escaping out the sides. What makes the JavaJig system great is that it works exactly like a K - Cup works, minus the glue on the side of the filter. No other DIY system works as good as the new JavaJig. Make sure you read the instructions on putting it together, because it is counter intuitive. Flip, place, slide, fill and ... JavaJig has had a complete overhaul and works amazingly well. "Pull" the holster and cup apart over your compost or trash can (do not separate the lid and holster). 2. "Poke" the used filter out of the bottom of the green outer cup. 3. "Flick" the lid (still attached to the holster) to knock out any remaining coffee grounds. 4. "Rinse" the parts under warm water. 5. "Pop" the lid out from the inside of the holster using your thumb. I can clean 6 used JavaJigs in the time it takes to brew 1 cup of coffee this way.

The Java Jig is very easy to use and makes for quick clean-up. It takes a few trials to get the coffee amount right, but once you have that figured out, it works perfectly. Would buy it again.

it works but I don't use it much
It works OK, but I don't use it much, just too much trouble. For someone really wanting to reduce the price of their coffee, it would help, but the convenience of the prepackaged cups makes it too easy, and the disposal seals the deal. These are kind of a pain to clean and disassemble each time you make a single cup of coffee
