Great author, good series.
Robert B Parker is a good author, and the Jessie Stone series is one of his best series of books. While reading you can visualize what Parkwr is describing. Good mystery.

Worst of the Jesse Stone novels - Don't read First.
I've read all of the Jesse Stone series and liked them, this one just didn't work. The author seemed to have changed the nature and beliefs of the characters to far from how they were in previous novels.

Read it and watch it!
This is number 3 in a series by Robert Parker. it is a Jesse Stone novel, named after the mail protagonist. Excellent series by a well-known author of many books not in this series. The books were filmed in a series starring Tom Selleck and produced by Netflix. Well worth tracking down as Selleck is a perfect fit for this series.

Great story by the late Robert B. Parker!
The book I got was in great shape. I like first edition/first printings for no explainable reason. The Jesse Stone stories appeal to me because a small town police department doing what they can with what they have makes for a great story. The book is very similar to the TV movie with Tom Selleck which I saw first and enjoyed as well. Other Robert B. Parker stories did not appeal to me eventhough I like Parker's writing style. His Jesse Stone stories (I have them all) are "restful", quick reads that remind me of the late Tony Hillerman's Navajo police stories.
A good read
Jesse Stone is back in another novel by Robert B. Parker. I'm not crazy about some of the action and the wrap up is not up to par, but it is an exciting read none the less. Jesse gets a bit out of control, letting people get beat up in his office, and then beating up some suspects on his own. And the ending tends to be a bit of a let down, with no explanations as to why the murderers killed so many random victims. Over all, a good addition to the series, but not my personal favorite. Recommended.
