The questions asked are if I'd recommend it; is it a good value; and is it of good quality. To the first two questions, I answered "no". I can't recommend it to people who have issues using their hands. The knob that is used to cause the basket to spin is difficult to turn. It's not freely loose because it has to be able to grab the basket inside the bowl. Once you get some momentum, it will spin rapidly, but initially, it takes some hand strength which, when my hands ache, I don't have so I don't use the salad spinner. The lid fits snugly but, is designed in such a way that if you use it to store the vegetables in until you need them, it's difficult to remove. Individuals with good hand strength for grasping wouldn't have this problem though. Therefore, it's a poor value for my money if ... Also, I think it's fairly poor value if you're planning to use it for family meals because it's a lot smaller than I expected. I expected to be able to use it to wash an entire head of lettuce, loosened or taken apart, but it isn't. So, I have repeat tasks with vegetables I want to wash for a family size meal. On the other hand, it's perfect for cooking for one or two people. It's fine for family size use as long as you are patient. Is it a good quality? Yes, absolutely. The bowl, basket and lid are all well made. Maybe with use, the turn knob will loosen up a bit and make the set easier to use, but nothing can be said to otherwise fault the quality of Ikea's salad spinner. My opinion of this salad spinner is based on my ownership of a model from Italy that was made years. It was larger, therefore the basket was larger so it could hold more vegetables and the lid fit differently, yet securely, and the turn knob operated more smoothly.

The Spinner is a Winner
I do sprouting & I purchased it for getting rid of the hulls. It works beautifully. To eat the highly beneficial broccoli sprouts without this spinner, was a huge waste of time, I big loss of the sprouts and I had given up on the broccoli sprouts for these reasons. Then a friend recommended the salad spinner. I thought about it & felt it just might be the resolve I needed for my health. It turned out to be exactly that. Now I can finally enjoy broccoli sprouts without he waste of time and without the great loss of sprouts that flow over the edge with the hulls nor the huge difficulty of picking out the hulls with tweezers.I do sprouting & I purchased it for getting rid of the hulls.
